The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is launching an inspection campaign focused on chiropractors who utilize radiation generators, assessing their adherence to the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (IRR17). These inspections, scheduled from January to March, aim to protect employees and the public from occupational radiation exposure. HSE's Head of Health Unit, Duncan Smith, emphasized the prevalence of radiology in the industry and the importance of safety measures. The HSE has released an online video to guide dutyholders on what to expect during the inspections, including required preparation of records and compliance assessments related to equipment and safety features. Registered employers will be contacted in advance to arrange inspection times, and post-inspection summaries will indicate compliance levels and any necessary enforcement actions.
